Journal History
NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK) was established in 2005 on the initiative of Hema Malini, S.Kp., MN., Ph.D. and Emil Huriani, S.Kp., MN., as a scholarly publication platform for the dissemination of nursing research and academic work within the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas.
Since its establishment, the journal has undergone several stages of editorial leadership and development. From January to November 2012, the journal was led by Nelwati, S.Kp., MN. as Editor-in-Chief. From December 2012 to June 2016, the Editor-in-Chief position was held by Reni Prima Gusty, M.Kes. Beginning in July 2016, the journal entered a subsequent period of editorial leadership under Dwi Novrianda, M.Kep. The journal has continued to develop its editorial governance over time, with the current editorial structure presented separately on the Editorial Team page.
At the beginning of its publication history, NERS Jurnal Keperawatan was published twice a year, in June and December. In 2012, the publication schedule was changed to March and October, while maintaining a frequency of two regular issues per year.
The journal's print ISSN is 1907-686X, and its electronic ISSN is 2461-0747. In 2015, NERS Jurnal Keperawatan obtained its electronic ISSN, marking an important step in the journal's transition toward digital scholarly publishing. Earlier print articles were subsequently made available through the journal's online platform.
Over time, NERS Jurnal Keperawatan has continued to strengthen its journal management, digital publication system, editorial processes, visibility, indexing, and dissemination. The journal has also implemented Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for its published articles to support persistent identification and scholarly discoverability.
NERS Jurnal Keperawatan has been included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) since 2019. As part of its continuing development, the journal remains committed to improving editorial governance, peer-review quality, publication ethics, transparency, accessibility, indexing, and the dissemination of nursing scholarship at national and international levels.
