Repository Policy

1. Introduction

NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK) supports the dissemination, visibility, and accessibility of scholarly research in nursing and related fields. The journal encourages authors to share their research through appropriate institutional repositories, subject-based repositories, and personal academic websites, subject to the journal’s copyright, licensing, and open access policies.

This Repository Policy explains how authors may deposit and share different versions of their manuscripts published in NJK. It aims to promote responsible scholarly communication while ensuring that the published version of each article can be properly identified and cited.

Authors are encouraged to check the applicable license and copyright terms of their articles before depositing or redistributing any version of their work.

2. Definitions of Article Versions

For the purposes of this policy, NJK recognizes the following article versions:

  • Submitted Version (Preprint): The original manuscript submitted by the author before formal peer review and before any editorial revisions.

  • Accepted Version (Author’s Accepted Manuscript / AAM or Postprint): The manuscript accepted for publication after peer review and revision, but before journal copyediting, typesetting, and final publication formatting.

  • Published Version (Version of Record / VoR): The final version of the article officially published by NJK, including the journal’s publication formatting and bibliographic information and, where assigned, its Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Authors should clearly identify the version they deposit to avoid confusion about the article’s publication status.

3. Repository Deposition Policy

NJK encourages authors to deposit and share their research through appropriate repositories, subject to the terms of the applicable copyright and license agreements.

3.1 Submitted Version (Preprint)

Authors may share their submitted manuscripts in accordance with the terms applicable to the manuscript and any relevant institutional or funding requirements.

When a preprint is subsequently published in NJK, authors should update the repository record, where possible, to include the final article citation and a link to the published version.

3.2 Accepted Version (Author’s Accepted Manuscript)

Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript in an institutional repository, a relevant non-commercial subject repository, or an academic website, provided that such deposit is permitted by the applicable NJK publication agreement and licensing terms.

Where required, the deposited manuscript should include a statement indicating that the article has been accepted for publication in NJK. Once the article is published, authors are encouraged to add the complete citation and a permanent link to the published version.

3.3 Published Version (Version of Record)

The published version is the official version of the article available on the NJK journal website.

Authors may deposit or share the published version in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal academic websites, or other appropriate platforms when permitted by the article’s applicable license and NJK’s copyright policy.

The published version should remain identifiable as the official version of record, and the journal’s bibliographic information and DOI, where available, should be retained.

3.4 Embargo and Licensing Conditions

The permitted deposit date, embargo period, and applicable license depend on NJK’s official open access, copyright, and licensing policies.

Authors should consult the license statement associated with their article before depositing or redistributing the accepted or published version. This policy does not independently grant reuse rights beyond those provided by the applicable license.

Before publication of this policy, NJK should specify whether self-archiving is permitted immediately or subject to an embargo, and identify the exact license applied to its published articles.

3.5 Permitted Repository Locations

Where permitted by the applicable license and publication terms, authors may share their manuscripts through:

  • Institutional repositories: Repositories maintained by the author’s university or affiliated institution.

  • Subject repositories: Repositories relevant to nursing, healthcare, medicine, or related research fields.

  • Personal academic websites: The author’s personal website or institutional academic profile.

  • Non-commercial scholarly platforms: Academic sharing platforms, where their terms of service and the applicable article license permit the deposit.

  • Other appropriate repositories: Repositories that support scholarly communication and preserve accurate article metadata.

The availability of a platform does not automatically mean that every version of an article may be deposited there. Authors remain responsible for checking the applicable terms.

4. Conditions for Repository Deposit

When depositing a version of an article associated with an NJK publication, authors should observe the following conditions:

  1. Acknowledge the published source. Provide the full bibliographic citation of the article as published in NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK).

  2. Identify the article version. Indicate whether the deposited file is a submitted version, accepted manuscript, or published version.

  3. Provide a link to the published article. Include a permanent link to the article on the NJK website and its DOI, if available.

  4. Retain copyright and license information. Preserve or reproduce the applicable copyright notice and license statement where required.

  5. Maintain accurate metadata. Ensure that the article title, author names, publication year, journal title, volume, issue, page numbers or article number, and DOI, where available, are accurate.

  6. Observe applicable restrictions. Comply with the article’s license, the journal’s publication terms, and any relevant institutional or funding requirements.

5. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their repository and self-archiving practices comply with this policy and the applicable copyright and licensing terms.

Authors should:

  • Verify which article versions may be deposited and whether any embargo applies.

  • Clearly label the deposited version.

  • Provide the correct citation and a link to the official published article.

  • Retain any required copyright and license statements.

  • Check relevant institutional and funder open access requirements.

  • Correct repository records when necessary to reflect the final publication details.

Any reuse, redistribution, or adaptation of an article must comply with the license applicable to that article. Where the intended use is not covered by the license, permission should be obtained from the relevant copyright holder.

6. Relationship to Other Journal Policies

This Repository Policy should be read together with NJK’s Open Access Policy, Copyright and Licensing Policy, and Publication Ethics policies, where applicable.

In the event of any inconsistency, the applicable copyright agreement and license for the individual article, together with NJK’s formally approved policies, shall govern the permitted use and distribution of that article.

7. Further Information
