Preprints and Prior Dissemination
NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK) recognizes that authors may wish to share their research findings publicly before formal journal publication. The journal permits the submission of manuscripts that have previously been posted on recognized preprint servers, provided that the authors comply with the requirements set out in this policy. Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not, by itself, constitute prior journal publication or automatically disqualify the manuscript from consideration by the journal.
Prior to Submission
Before submitting a manuscript to NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK), authors may deposit or share their manuscripts on recognized preprint servers, institutional repositories, funder repositories, or personal or institutional websites, provided that such dissemination does not violate applicable legal, ethical, confidentiality, or research-participant protection requirements.
A manuscript posted as a preprint must not have been formally published as a full journal article. Authors must also ensure that the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration for publication by another journal.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the preprint does not disclose confidential information, violate third-party rights, or compromise the anonymity of participants or other individuals where confidentiality or anonymization is required.
Upon Submission
Authors must disclose any prior public dissemination of the manuscript at the time of submission to NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK). This disclosure must identify the preprint server or repository, provide the preprint DOI or URL where available, and indicate whether the submitted manuscript differs from the publicly available version.
If the manuscript has not been assigned a DOI, authors must provide a stable URL or other available identifying information. If the manuscript has not previously been posted as a preprint, authors should indicate that no prior preprint dissemination has occurred.
The existence of a preprint does not automatically disqualify a manuscript from editorial consideration. However, all submissions remain subject to the journal's editorial screening, publication ethics requirements, and peer-review procedures.
During the editorial process, authors may continue to share or link to an existing preprint, provided that the sharing does not misrepresent the manuscript's publication status or violate applicable confidentiality, ethical, or legal requirements. Authors should not present an unaccepted manuscript as an article accepted or published by the journal.
If authors publicly share the submitted version while the manuscript is under consideration, they are encouraged to include the following statement:
This manuscript has been submitted to NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK) for consideration for publication.
This statement must not imply that the manuscript has been accepted or endorsed by the journal.
Upon Acceptance
If a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors must update the preprint record, repository entry, or other publicly accessible record, where technically possible, to indicate that the manuscript has been accepted for publication in NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK).
Where the preprint platform permits version replacement or linking, authors should add a notice identifying the accepted manuscript and provide a link to the final published article once it becomes available.
Authors must not present an earlier preprint or submitted version as the final published article. Any posting or distribution of the accepted manuscript must comply with the journal's applicable Copyright and License Policy and Repository Policy.
Authors must not make unauthorized changes to a journal-accepted version and represent those changes as part of the version accepted by the journal.
After Final Publication
Once the article has been formally published, authors are responsible for updating the preprint record, repository entry, or other publicly accessible record, where technically possible, with a full citation to the published article, including the article title, journal name, publication year, and DOI or permanent article URL.
Authors should provide a direct link to the final published version on the official NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK) website. Where the repository or preprint server supports version replacement or linking, authors should link the earlier version to the final published article and clearly distinguish the preprint, accepted manuscript, and version of record.
The final published article must not be modified or redistributed in a manner inconsistent with the journal's copyright, licensing, and repository policies. The version that authors may deposit or share after publication depends on the applicable license and the journal's relevant policies.
Author Responsibilities and Editorial Assessment
Authors are responsible for disclosing prior dissemination accurately, maintaining consistency between preprint records and the publication status of the manuscript, and ensuring that any publicly available version complies with applicable ethical, legal, and copyright requirements.
The journal reserves the right to request clarification or additional information concerning prior dissemination when necessary to assess a submission. Each manuscript will be evaluated according to the journal's editorial policies, publication ethics requirements, and peer-review procedures.
Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not constitute peer review, does not imply endorsement by NERS Jurnal Keperawatan (NJK), and does not guarantee acceptance for publication.
This policy should be read together with the journal's Author Guidelines, Peer Review Policy, Copyright and License Policy, and Repository Policy.
